PLAYDAY FORMAT
Playday Rules:
LAGANF was formed to give low handicap women, juniors and collegiate golfers in North Florida an opportunity to play under tournament preparation conditions. Our playdays are gross score events played under USGA rules.
One player from each group will need to record all scores, hole by hole, and total, on the results sheet for all players in their group. Please show appreciation for the playday chair who scheduled the playday.
- Switch score cards and have two signatures when turning them in.
- Be sure to putt all putts!
- If you do decide to pick up and not finish the hole you will still be eligible for skins but not total score prizes.
- Please refer to the course rating listed on the scoresheet or on the results email. Course ratings can also be found on the web at GHIN or FSGA.ORG.
- You must record all playday scores in a timely manner in the GHIN system using ESC; do not record as a tournament round.
- Be sure to have scorecards signed and attested before submitting.
PACE OF PLAY
1. This is a big concern for our group!
2. We should play in 4 – 4hrs 10 minutes.
3. To speed up play we decided that you should take your Max score and pick-up your ball and move on! You will not be eligible for low gross.
4. This will not impact the skins game. You are eligible for skins.
5. If the game is LOW PUTTS and you pick up your ball take a 3 putt.
6. Please limit your cell phone use on course to emergency only calls. It’s rude to be on the phone while your teammates are trying to play and keep pace.
Signing up:
Playday evites invitations are sent approximately 11-7 days before play. Some fields are limited in number and are decided via blind draw. Pay in the Pro Shop unless otherwise directed. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of tee time to warm up and check in. If you want to participate in the daily skins game, please bring $5.00 cash and put in envelope provided by Playday Leader.
All events are tee times – time of event will be indicated on the evite. Tee times will be sent via email by the Playday Chair one or two days prior to play.
Game of the Day: Each playday there will have two special games of the day that will be stated when you receive your tee times. Winners, depending on the games and the size of the field, will be announced at lunch and in a subsequent email and receive a PGA Gift Card (value $20).
Give Back: We try to give back to playday clubs by staying for lunch following play. Upon completion of play report to playday chair or leader in the lunch area. We all sit together.
Please come out and support LAGANF!
Call or email the playday chair if you have any suggestions or comments.
TIPS TO IMPROVE PACE OF PLAY
We are only bringing this to your attention because of the feedback from the Club Pros and canceled memberships.
- The R & A has even gone to ready golf: one of their thoughts is that the shortest player off the tee should hit first to give them more time to be ready for their second shot.
- Rotella says don’t go out there and play “golf swing”, go out there to play golf. If you need more than a practice swing, you should probably have stayed on the range to work on it. Be ready to play your shot.
- When you are driving the cart, drop off your passenger and go, if possible, without interfering, to your shot. Your passenger can walk to you (or vice versa if you are hitting first) or swing back by and get them.
- Once you have hit your shot, get directly in the cart, and put your clubs/headcovers etc. up at the next stop.
- On the putting green, check out your putt while you are waiting. If you are out of the peripheral vision of the first person putting or chipping, go ahead and place your ball down on the green. Putt out if possible.
USGA Rule 5 – Playing the Round
When it is your turn to play, it is recommended that you make the stroke in no more than 40 seconds, and usually more quickly than that. - Always record scores and put your clubs in your bag at next tee box, not by the green.
- KEY POINT: When you get to a tee box or fairway shot, by looking at the score card, tee box sign, or in the fairway, a 150 or 200 marker hopefully on the cart path, you have some idea of what clubs you are going to need, so grab them out of your bag and take them with you. If you see that the yardage is 153, take the two or so clubs around that range with you.
- If you do these things, you will not feel rushed, and we will all finish in a timely manner. Don’t hurry, just be ready.
